Overview
A discount code is a code that gives buyers a price reduction at checkout. On TikTok Shop it is often tied to a specific creator, both to drive conversions with an offer and to help track which creator sent the sale.
The discount is a conversion lever; the attribution is a measurement bonus.
How it works
A brand creates a code (a percentage or dollar amount off) and gives it to creators to share in their content. Viewers who use it get the discount, and the brand can see which code, and therefore which creator, drove the order.
Why it matters
Codes add urgency that lifts conversion, and creator-specific codes give you an extra attribution signal alongside affiliate links. The cost is margin, so the discount has to be modeled into your per-order economics.
How brands use it
Brands issue creator-specific codes to sweeten offers, measure attribution, and run time-boxed promotions around launches and sales moments.
